01 · CURRICULUM

Movement
& Safety

Six- or twelve-week sequence anchored in Shotokan fundamentals. Falls, blocks, stances, situational awareness, and de-escalation — adapted to grade level. Lesson plans mapped to Ontario PE outcomes for movement, fair play, healthy living, and personal safety.

02 · INSTRUCTION

Vetted
Coaches

Every instructor is vulnerable-sector-checked, trained in trauma-informed practice, and trained in our standardized lesson plan. Taught by black belt instructors.

03 · DELIVERY

Plug
& Play

We bring portable tatami mats, focus pads, and all equipment. Set-up takes 15 minutes in any gymnasium. Two instructors per session. PE department keeps the existing schedule — we slot in.

Every lesson maps to at least one strand of the Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum (grades 4–12). Full alignment grid available in the capability statement.

Self-awareness, focus, respect for partners, and conflict resolution through controlled-contact drills.

B · Active Living

Daily Physical Activity

Moderate-to-vigorous activity sustained for 30+ minutes per session, with progressive intensity.

C · Movement

Competence in Movement

Stances, footwork, falls, blocks, and strikes taught with safe progressions and corrective feedback.

D · Healthy Living

Personal Safety & Injury Prevention

Falls, escapes, situational awareness, and de-escalation — directly applicable to schoolyard and transit settings.

Sample sequence for grades 7–8. Adjustable for grade level, length (6/12 week), and any PE department's existing scope and sequence.

  • 01OrientationDojo etiquette, safe falls (ukemi), stances. The handshake that starts every class.
  • 02–03FoundationsSix basic punches, three kicks, three blocks. Pair drills. Partner respect.
  • 04De-escalationVerbal de-escalation. Body language. When fighting is the wrong answer.
  • 05–06Situational AwarenessReading environments. Bystander intervention. Phone use vs. presence.
  • 07–08Ground DefenseEscape from common holds. Standing up safely. Getting to help.
  • 09–10Sparring FundamentalsLight-contact sparring with full gear. Sportsmanship over winning.
  • 11Review & Belt TestOptional belt test for every student. Certificates issued in-school.
  • 12DemonstrationStudent demonstration for parents and staff. Kata, sparring, breaking boards (foam).
